Graham Nuthall – The hidden lives of learners
Win our book of the month October
I did not know this book by Graham Nuthall and it was already published in 2007. Perhaps this is because he passed away just before publication. Nevertheless, it is – even now – very rewarding.
He has a special approach. He does not investigate what teachers do, but what students do and say, both formally and informally. In addition, he checks what they know exactly about a subject just before class, just after class and a year later.
In this way he is able to predict in 80-85% of the cases exactly what a student will know a year later and what not!
Very enlightening to me.
